Samir Khuller's mentee is a Intel Science Talent Search Finalist
2012 Intel Science Talent Search Finalist Frederic Koehler, is a senior at the Montgomery Blair High School and his award-winning project is the only one from the state of Maryland to make it to the list.
His project, "Quick and Efficient: Fast Algorithms for Completion Time and Batch Minimization on Multiple Machines," went on display at the National Academy of Sciences in March. From more than 1,800 applicants in Intel Science Talent Search 2012, 40 high school seniors were selected as finalists and invited to Washington, D.C., to present original research to esteemed judges and showcase their work.
Samir Khuller's previous pupils to make it to the Intel Science Finals were Mike Forbes (currently doing his PhD at MIT) and Matt McCutchen (just graduated from UMD with high honors in both Math and CS is now with Google).
