AFCEA-Bethesda to Fund CompSciConnect Camp in ‘14
Mon Mar 10, 2014
The Bethesda chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is donating $25,000 to the Center for Women in Computing to fund the Computer Science Connect Camp for the summer.
The Computer Science Connect Camp is a 2-week-long day camp offered by the University of Maryland computer science department for middle school girls who want to learn about web development, programming, robots and related areas.
The donation will go towards funding teaching assistants and other expenses that will allow the program to go to three cohorts this summer.
The camps will begin in the last week of June and run through July. Training sessions for teaching assistants will take place before the camps open.
