Lise Getoor's students win Best Paper Award at SBP 2013

Lise Getoor's students Jeonhyung Kang and Kristina Lerman have won the Best Student Paper Award at the 2013 International Conference on Social Computing, Behavioral-Cultural Modeling & Prediction (SBP 2013) to be held from April 2-5 at Washington, D.C.

Their paper "LA-LDA: A Limited Attention Topic Model for Social Recommendation" demonstrates that psycho-socially motivated models have better ability to describe and predict observed behavior than models which only consider topics, by using LA-LDA model to analyze voting on news items on the social news aggregator Digg.
