Visiting Professor Thomas Snitch to Lead Applied Innovations Division at Waypoint Global Strategies
Thomas Snitch, a visiting professor at UMIACS, recently joined Waypoint Global Strategies, a strategy and technology firm delivering consulting, training, and analytics solutions for clients who seek to integrate unmanned aircraft systems into their daily business operations.
Snitch will head the applied innovations division at Waypoint, where he will lead efforts to design and implement advanced analytics solutions to complement Waypoint's existing signature service offerings in unmanned aircraft systems worldwide.
His research at UMIACS focuses on mathematical modeling to combat poaching of endangered species in Africa and Asia. He combines high-resolution satellite imagery, unmanned aerial vehicles and algorithms developed with other researchers at UMIACS to provide useful information to game wardens tasked with protecting the animals.
Snitch is also chairman of the Board of Visitors of the College of Computing, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland.
