Subrahmanian Named Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Intelligent Systems
V.S. Subrahmanian, a professor of computer science with an appointment in UMIACS, has been named editor-in-chief of IEEE Intelligent Systems, effective January 2017.
IEEE Intelligent Systems is a bimonthly publication of the IEEE Computer Society, providing peer-reviewed, cutting-edge articles on the theory and applications of systems that perceive, reason, learn and act intelligently.
“I am honored and privileged to provide editorial leadership for IEEE Intelligent Systems,” says Subrahmanian. “I have tracked the journal’s growth and influence for more than a decade with great interest.”
Subrahmanian previously worked with the journal as editor of the Predictive Analytics column that appears every other issue. He has also interacted with the journal’s staff as a contributing author.
Moving forward, Subrahmanian believes that the convergence of big data, predictive analytics and industry investment in artificial intelligence will only increase the need for a top-tier, peer-reviewed publication like IEEE Intelligent Systems.
“I plan to work with academia, industry and others to highlight new ideas and novel discoveries in AI and move the field of intelligent systems forward,” he says.
