G.W. “Pete” Stewart, professor emeritus of computer science and a longstanding member of UMIACS, will receive the prestigious Mathematics and Computer Science Award from the Washington Academy of Sciences on Thursday, Oct. 10.
The award recognizes his distinguished work in scientific computing. Stewart joins a stellar group of UMIACS faculty researchers -- Rita Colwell, James Yorke, Larry Davis, and Victor Basili -- who were similarly recognized in prior years by the academy.
