Ruppin Named Director of CBCB

A noted expert in neural networks, systems biology and personalized cancer research has been recruited to lead the University of Maryland Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (CBCB). Eytan Ruppin, currently a professor in the School of Computer Science and the School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, will assume directorship of CBCB in July 2014.
Ruppin’s current research is focused on constructing empirical models of protein interactions within a cell. He earned his Ph.D. in 1993 from Tel Aviv University, and was later a postdoc at Maryland working with James Reggia, professor of computer science.
