Former Student of Larry Davis Featured in Media

Abhinav Gupta, an assistant research professor at Carnegie Mellon University and a former doctoral student of Larry Davis in UMIACS, was recently featured in media coverage on the Never Ending Image Learner (NEIL) program at CMU.

NEIL leverages recent advances in computer vision that enable computer programs to identify and label objects in images, to characterize scenes and to recognize attributes, such as colors, lighting and materials, all with a minimum of human supervision. In turn, the data it generates will further enhance the ability of computers to understand the visual world.

Gupta collaborated with Davis on numerous papers and projects while a graduate student in the Computer Vision Lab.
