Dr. Rama Chellappa wins the 2012 King-Sun Fu Prize

The King-Sun Fu Prize is a biennial award given out by the International Association for Pattern Recognition in recognition of an outstanding technical contribution to the field of pattern recognition. Previous winners include outstanding researchers in the field of pattern recognition like Azriel Rosenfeld (1988), R L Kashyap (1990 and Dr. Chellappa's PhD advisor), Laveen Kanal (1992), and Tom Huang (2002). Dr. Chellappa will be presented with the award during the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR) 2012 in Tsukuba Science City, Japan.
Dr. Chellappa is the Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering department and has also served as Director of the Center for Automation Research (CfAR).
