Alex Quinn, a graduating computer science doctoral student advised by Ben Bederson, has accepted a tenure-track professorship at Purdue University in its School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Quinn’s dissertation focuses on efficient human computation for decision-making with spreadsheets.
He has also built a number of software platforms, including StoryKit, the iOS app that supports over 100,000 hours per month of children writing stories; a crowdsourced solution to improve readability of picture books in the International Children's Digital Library; a platform for the computer science department’s restaurant food safety project, which has collected information on 3 million inspections from 600,000 restaurants; and more.
