Bhattacharyya Receives Fulbright Specialist Grant
Shuvra Bhattacharyya, a professor of electrical and computer engineering with an appointment in UMIACS, has received a Fulbright Specialist grant to help develop a master’s degree program in embedded signal processing at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria.
The award will provide an honorarium and other support for Bhattacharyya to travel to Salzburg for four weeks this summer.
The Fulbright Specialist grant program was established in 2000 to promote collaborations between U.S. scholars and professionals and their counterparts at host institutions overseas.
This is the third Fulbright Specialist information technology grant Bhattacharyya has received. The previous grants were in 2005 (University of Erlangen-Nuremburg) and 2009 (also at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences).
All of Bhattacharyya’s grants are centered on helping overseas institutions develop research and educational programs in embedded signal processing.
In addition to his research in signal processing, Bhattacharyya is a noted expert in wireless sensor networks, embedded software, and hardware/software co-design.
